Oslekov’s House - Koprivshtitsa

One of the most impressive houses in the town is Oslekov’s house. It is an indisputable example of Bulgarian architecture from the epoch of the Revival. The house is built in the so called Plovdiv style symmetric house. There is big closed otvod (hall), glassed kioshk (verandah) and rich mural decoration. Interesting are the three columns of the house, which are made of solid cedar wood, specially brought from Lebanon for the building of the house. An ethnographic collection is arranged in Oslekov’s house and it shows articles from the daily round of the local people. Boyana Church - Sofia

Several cultural and natural monuments which are protected by UNESCO are unique for Bulgaria. Such a cultural landmark is the Boyana church. In 1979 it was proclaimed as a monument of UNESCO. It is situated 8 kilometers from the Bulgarian capital. The frescoes which can be seen inside it are with marked Renaissance motifs and techniques. That’s why it is a monument of the Bulgarian mediaeval architecture and church painting. The building is made up of three parts. The first , which is the oldest, was built in the 11th century.
